Rooted in the public domain tradition, this new version honors the original while offering a fresh interpretation designed for performance by a four‑part choir. Associated with the Christmas story, at its heart, the song is a proclamation of the Nativity—the birth of Jesus Christ—and the joy that radiates from that event.
